Shelby is a young, gentle giant of a girl. A big sweetie, her soft, plush coat matches her sweet heart and super temperament with people. Sadly, Shelby is aggressive towards other dogs and will kill small animals. This is not a faulty temperament, it's the nature of most malamutes and so she will have to be the ONLY pet in the home. Also, no small children please, she's just too big at over 30 inches tall and over 100lbs heavy.

However, She loves to play and as we said is terrific with people. Her favorite game is to be chased around the house or yard. Belly rubs are also a HUGE hit with her, that's her belly, not yours!

Like all malamutes, Shelby sheds twice a year....alot. With her plush, thick coat, that you won't be able to keep your fingers out of, she also absolutely must be inside in the air conditioning in the summer. Shaving malamutes is a very bad idea, but a very good idea is to brush them on a regular basis, which she loves :-) She'll be more than happy to keep you company on the couch during the summer!

A large, fenced yard is an absolute requirement for this big girl to stretch her legs. Shelby has a lovely voice and knows how to use it so an apartment is not a good home for her as they might not appreciate her singing voice as much as you and she do ;-)

If you are interesting in learning more about Shelby, you can get a headstart by filling out the Online Adoption Application.

NOTE: Shelby is located in the metro Columbus, GA area and preference is to adopters within reasonable driving distance due to the requisite home checks outlined in the adoption procedures listed on the Online Adoption Application page.
